How to install ansible
Ansible is configuration management that provisions hosts over SSH without agents. This page carries no procedure of its own; it records what the project is and what to look at before touching it.
How it reaches a system
The route varies. Some projects publish to system repositories, some to a registry, some only as source that a dedicated build tool consumes.
Who is behind it
Day-to-day direction belongs to the maintainers. They set the roadmap, cut releases, and decide which platforms stay supported.
Before touching anything
Start from the support matrix. It narrows over time, and assumptions made years ago often no longer hold.
If something looks wrong
When results differ from expectations, check what is actually being picked up. Duplicate copies and stale caches are the usual explanation.
About this site
Only text is published from this domain. Each project remains exactly where its authors put it.
On reading release notes
Release notes are the cheapest way to catch a breaking change before it surprises you. They usually list platform shifts and removed defaults in the first few lines.
